What is great today will be spectacular tomorrow. Since national ski magazines began rating ski resorts nearly two decades ago, only one South Lake Tahoe resort has consistently ranked among North America's top 10 for snow, terrain challenge and variety: Kirkwood. And over the next decade, it’s going to get even better.

One of the more challenging questions we’ve been asked over the past decade is how Kirkwood can continue to attract more people, yet maintain our trademark reputation of great conditions, short lines and lots of room on the mountain. The answer lies in the numbers:

1)  The current plan will provide Kirkwood over 1,100 new additional lift-accessed acres when complete.

2)  At full build out, Kirkwood’s lift capacity will increase from 16,000 skiers to 27,000, an increase of nearly 70%.

3)  The combination of new terrain and lift capacity dramatically outpaces the increase in daily capacity - 70% more lift capacity and new lift accessed terrain, versus a daily capacity increase of just 40%.

Again you don’t have to be a skier or a boarder to enjoy all Lake Tahoe has to offer!

EVENING SNOW CAT TOURS

Expedition Snow Cat Tours are back by popular demand for 2010!

Reserve your space onboard, then meet in Off the Wall Bar & Grill at 5:00 or 6:30PM on Saturday and Holiday evenings. After pre-ride cocktails and appetizers, tours depart from Off the Wall at 5:30 or 7:00PM and arrive at the top of Red Cliffs to enjoy one of the most spectacular views in the High Sierra.

Our Expedition Snow Cat can accommodate 12 guests, 15 if at least five are smaller children.

Prices are $75 for adults, $25 for children.  A minimum number of guests are required for each tour, and larger groups may also book the entire cat for $600 to enjoy a private group outing. 

Cat tours are also available during non-scheduled holiday nights by reservation at least four days in advance of desired departure, with dinner rides to Kirkwood Inn optional.

DOG SLEDDING

For a scenic adventure unlike any other you'll experience at Kirkwood, Running Creek Dog Sled Rides offers the perfect pairing to a day of fun on the slopes, and what better way to see South Lake Tahoe at its finest!

The scenic Meadow Loop Ride provides a 30 minute tour of Kirkwood's scenic meadow trails.  $85 for adults, $45 for kids.

The Adventure Ride offers an exciting alternative to the traditional ride, providing riders the opportunity to get on the back of the sled with the guide!  Bring your camera...  You'll want to capture these memories on film to share!  $130 for adults, $60 for kids.
